Four University of Human Development students from the College of Science and Technology have travelled to China to participate in the final phase of the Huawei ICT (Information and Communications Technology) Competition 2024-25.
Each of Areen Omed, Rawaz Mansour, Muhammed Abdullah and Abdullah Taha successfully completed the first and second rounds of the competition in both Computing and Cloud at the national (Iraq) and regional (Middle East) levels. The Iraqi team for this year’s Huawei contest consists of five students, four of whom are from the UHD.
The Huawei ICT Competition is an annual event held for university students. It aims to showcase and enhance students’ ICT knowledge and practical skills. The competition is initially conducted at the state level. Successful students then participate at the regional level, and finally, those who win will travel to China to compete in the final rounds for prizes, including the Grand Prize, First, Second, and Third Prizes, along with other honourable awards.
Last year, at Huawei ICT Competition 2023-24, UHD students reached the final and won the First Prize. This was a significant achievement, as two out of the three students who comprised the Iraqi team were from UHD, and due to the knowledge and expertise of the UHD students, Iraq was among the winners of the First Prize in the competition.
