The University of Human Development
student Mr Aram Goran Muhammad from the College of Science and Technology,
Department of Information and Technology, has been working on creating and developing
lenses on Snapchat for years with some results.
He managed to get a formal place on
Snapchat and began developing special lenses for famous Kurdish singers to be used
on their new songs and their live concerts. This helped him to know other lens
developers and get in touch with the companies working on this technology.
He had recently received an
invitation letter from Snap Inc to their African office in Dubai. He went there
together with five other developers in the Kurdistan Region whom Aram helped to
get recognised by the Company and allowed to have formal accounts. There were
ten other developers from the Middle East and Africa.
A series of meetings were held at the
company’s office which focused on lens creation and development and how to
connect Snapchat to augmented reality further. There were also discussions about
university students and the labour market and how could those guests be helped
to get contracts with the companies that work on augmented reality technology.
The journey lasted 6 days. The cost
was all covered by Snap Inc. And the invitees received special gifts at the
