The University of Human Development student Mr Aram Goran Muhammad from the College of Science and Technology, Department of Information and Technology, has been working on creating and developing lenses on Snapchat for years with some results.

He managed to get a formal place on Snapchat and began developing special lenses for famous Kurdish singers to be used on their new songs and their live concerts. This helped him to know other lens developers and get in touch with the companies working on this technology.

He had recently received an invitation letter from Snap Inc to their African office in Dubai. He went there together with five other developers in the Kurdistan Region whom Aram helped to get recognised by the Company and allowed to have formal accounts. There were ten other developers from the Middle East and Africa.

A series of meetings were held at the company’s office which focused on lens creation and development and how to connect Snapchat to augmented reality further. There were also discussions about university students and the labour market and how could those guests be helped to get contracts with the companies that work on augmented reality technology.

The journey lasted 6 days. The cost was all covered by Snap Inc. And the invitees received special gifts at the end.
