Three students from the Information Technology and English Departments at the University of Human Development have worked on a project to reduce traffic accidents by using smart technology connected to the blockchain.
The project attracted the attention of Traffic Radio FM, a local radio operated by Sulaymaniyah Traffic Directorate, so they were interviewed to explain it hoping that their voice would reach the authority and actions would be taken.
According to their proposed solution, smart technology would be used to alarm drivers about blind spots, hazards on the road, exceeding the speed limit, or parking in the wrong place. The project can solve nearly 30 kinds of traffic problems.
Traffic accidents are the second leading cause of death in the world. Attempts to reduce accidents and death have so far been limited. These students are hoping that their proposal will offer something new and effective.
