UHD hosts football tournament for universities in Sulaymaniyah

The University of Human Development hosted a football tournament for the universities in the Sulaymaniyah Governorate. Teams were formed from students at all the universities in the area to participate in the contest.
The final match was held between Sulaimani University and Komar University. Sulaimani beat Komar 6-1 and became the champion among the universities in the governorate. UHD secured third place in the competition.
The matches were played on the UHD’s fenced football field, which is near the hills surrounding the UHD campus to the north and overlooks a large area to the south. The scenery all around creates a pleasant atmosphere for both the footballers as well as the spectators. The tournament started in early spring and concluded in the latter half of the season.
UHD hosts various sports activities for its students including football. This year, in took the initiative to host a championship for all the universities located within Sulaymaniyah Governorate. Its Student Unit was heavily involved in the organisation and supervision of this event.
At the end of the final match, a small ceremony was held in which the UHD President, Prof. Dr Mariwan Ahmed Rasheed, awarded the players from both teams with medals and presented a trophy to the winner of the final game. Representatives from the participating universities attended both the match and the award ceremony.
