Launching a legal career: senior law student steps into new internship role

Mako Jalal Ahmed is a senior student in the Department of Law at the College of Law and Politics, University of Human Development. His English language skills, legal knowledge of international law, and ability to make arguments and defend his legal position enabled him to play a prominent role in the 2026 Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. He became one of the best oralists in Iraq for legal argumentation and presenting evidence during the national rounds held for the competing Iraqi teams in Erbil.
Mako is now in his fifth and final year. He recently secured a competitive internship with the SEED Foundation, a local non-governmental organisation based in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq that promotes human rights from a legal perspective. The internship is important for developing legal skills with regard to society’s many issues and building his future career.
The College of Law and Politics congratulates Mako and wishes him success in his studies and his future career. Meanwhile, the college encourages students to participate in activities related to their field of study, specifically the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition.
