College of Science and Technology makes field trip to Kurdsat Satellite Television

College of Science and Technology at the University of Human Development organised a field trip for students of Semester 3 of both the Information Technology and Computer Science Departments to Kurdsat on 11th December 2023 – Kurdsat is one of the very first Kurdish satellite television stations in Kurdistan. It is based in Sulaymaniyah City.
The trip aimed to acquaint students of these departments with the technology employed in a satellite television station; how the studios look like, how programmes are broadcast live, what software is used and how the servers and network all are connected and function. Semester 3 IT and Computer Science students take the Multimedia Module as part of their study courses in which they learn about Photoshop, Premiere and other tools which are used in producing television programmes.
Administrators at Kurdsat expressed their interest in having UHD students on their shows, on Roji nwe [New Day] and Chiroki mn [My story] in particular, and also UHD lecturers to contribute and enrich their many programmes.
Dr Omed Hassan Ahmed from the IT Department supervised the trip.
