Around 85 students from Nami Co-educational High School, located in Darbandikhan, a town southeast of Sulaymaniyah, paid a visit to the main campus of the University of Human Development (UHD) on the 19th of February 2025. They were Grade Twelve students from the Scientific and Literary Branches, and were received upon their arrival by the university’s Students Unit.
A lecturer from the English Department at the College of Languages, Mr Araz Ahmed Muhammed, presented a seminar to them at Prof. Dr. Ali Qaradaghi Hall on the topic of the English language and its increasing role in education, business, and almost all aspects of life. He highlighted the fact that mastering English can enhance career opportunities, improve communication skills, and open doors to global education and employment. Then, the head of the UHD Students Unit gave a talk introducing the academic departments and administrative units at UHD, shedding light on the study courses available.
Students then walked down to the scientific laboratories of the College of Health Sciences and Nursing, as well as the computer labs, where they were greeted by the lecturers from these colleges. The lecturers explained in simple language how the labs help students learn and understand their subjects, and emphasised the importance of these labs for students in these disciplines. They also visited the Moot Court Hall and saw a replica of a courtroom, where the judge sits, the stand for witnesses, as well as the positions for the plaintiff and defendant, and the places for attorneys, among others.
