Law Department lecturer at the University
of Human Development, Tahsin Hama-Gharib, has been practicing a new teaching
method with his students for some time. The method primarily focuses on
teaching the Principles of Law, a subject covered in Year 1, through narratives
and stories performed by two actors. Mr Hama-Gharib has extensively written
about this new approach in a novel titled ‘Lawa’, which is now printed and
available for circulation. In his book, Mr Hama-Gharib creates two
characters: Lawa, a freshman studying law, and his teacher, Doctor Shaduman.
Lawa discusses the content of the book, the Principles of Law, along with his
classmates and their teacher, exchanging ideas about it. Their discussions take
place in the form of stories and accounts, and they share those narratives with
their families and friends outside the university. The author of the novel states that the new
method has been very rewarding for him, and he has found that it works well for
the subject and the students. One day, he humorously asked his students to
leave a seat in the back of the classroom for Lawa so he could join them in
class.
