Active learning methods are discussed in a workshop at the College of Law and Politics

The College of Law and Politics held a
workshop on active learning methods and using them for teaching various
subjects studied at both departments of law and diplomacy and public relations. Lecturers at the said college attended the
workshop and were actively engaged in the discussion with Asst Prof. Dr Ahmed
Bali, who managed and delivered the workshop. One area of focus was the learning
environment at the college, how it can accommodate the new learning methods,
and how the teaching materials can be designed in a way that can go along and
support the new methods. Law departments at Iraqi universities
follow strict guidelines that are designed centrally, often by the Ministry of
Higher Education and Scientific Research. Now the question is: how is change of
teaching methods and curriculum possible under the centralised administration
of these schools? The Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Higher
Education has recently declared that it is open to introducing new teaching
methods and changing study courses if required.
