Prof. Dr Saman Fawzi, from the Department of Law at the University of Human Development, has introduced his new book titled Media Policy and Social Peace Issues in a ceremony on 10th November 2022.

The ceremony was organised by Civil Development Organisation (CDO) in its main office in Sulaymaniyah. CDO is an independent non-governmental and non-profit organisation founded in Kurdistan Region in 1999. It focuses on wide issues related to human rights and the development of society.

The book is o-authored. The other author is Asst Prof. Dr Sherko Jabar Muhammad from Media Department at Sulaymaniyah Polytechnic University.

The book is structured into four major chapters: The ethics of journalism and its role in the formation of the Fourth Estate in Iraq; The role of the media in achieving peaceful coexistence; Hate speech in the Iraqi media and ways to reduce it; and, The impact of disinformation on society.

The guests at the ceremony included authors, journalists, academists, media and law students and many local dignitaries.
