A workshop was held by the College of Science and Technology on ‘Designing Cloud Infrastructure’ at Building F, Room 204, on 12th October 2022. The presenters were Dr Mazen Ismael and Mr Rzgar Sirwan.

The workshop focused on the concept of cloud in information technology. It shed light on designing IT infrastructure for the cloud which is completely different from traditional on-premise data centres. It explained that before the advent of cloud computing, planning infrastructure involved making a series of estimates and educated guesses to determine the capacity requirements of products and applications, this often resulted in serious over or under-estimations, however with cloud services one can get to rethink their approach to architecting an IT environment so as to take full advantage of cloud computing.
