English Department prepares Seventh Semester students for Graduation Project
2022-01-20
The English Department at the University of Human Development had organised a workshop titled “Graduation Project: Tips and Topics” for 7th Semester students on the graduation research project in the fields of Translation, TEFL, Linguistics, and Literature at the Seminar Hall on 22nd September 2021. It was to prepare them for the task of writing a research paper in 8th Semester as a requirement for graduation from this department.
Mr Haval Latif, a lecturer at the English Department, arranged and delivered the workshop for 63 students of the 7th Semester. He introduced them to the graduation research project and explained the various approaches followed in academia to writing scientific papers. He focused on research methodologies, APA and MLA citations, and data analysis.
Traditional learning at universities in Iraq does not attach much importance to research writing. This has to be changed. The University of Human Development works hard on this trend; it develops the research writing skills of its students and prepares them for higher education and/or the challenges of the market. This step is highly encouraged by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Kurdistan Regional Government.
