The University of Human Development team from Iraq has won the First Prize at the Huawei ICT Global Competition Final 2023-2024. Many teams from universities worldwide, including Europe, Asia, the Middle East, America and Africa, participated in the competition, with some advancing to the Final. Students from the College of Science and Technology at the University of Human Development (UHD) comprised the majority of the Iraqi team, and the supervisor is also from the UHD.

The President of the University of Human Development, Professor Dr Mariwan Ahmed Rasheed, has sent his congratulations to the UHD team in China. He has expressed gratitude to the College of Science and Technology for their efforts and stated that the students’ significant achievement at this international competition indicates that UHD provides high quality education and prepares its students to be leaders in their respective fields.

Following their triumph in the competition, Huawei Public Relations Manager in the Kurdistan Region, Mr Jamal Noori Ahmed, contacted the University of Human Development to convey his congratulations on behalf of Huawei Company in Iraq. He noted the success of the UHD team in the earlier rounds of the Huawei ICT (Information and Communication Technology) Competition 2023-2024, which were initially held at the state level then at the regional level. The regional competition occurred in Bahrain, where the UHD team astonished everyone with their magnificent performance.

The current Iraqi team consists of three students, two of whom are from the University of Human Development, College of Science and Technology: Mr Brwa Shirwan Awrahman and Mr Bayad Aram Hassan. The other student is from the University of Mosul. The team’s supervisor is Mr Goran Saman, a lecturer at UHD in the same college.
