A group of the University of Human Development (UHD) students won a prize for the best entrepreneurship ideas on 19th April 2022. The prize was prepared by the Five One Labs organisation. The students previously took part in the many workshops held by the said organisation on business ideas and there was a long process before finally being selected for the prize.

The German Consul and representative of the GIZ organisation had attended the awarding ceremony in Sulaymaniyah. German GIZ was the sponsor of the program through Five One Labs.

The (Thek4) was the name of the entrepreneurship idea by the UHD students which was basically a sports project for online marketing of sports equipment and accessories. The project also involves training athletes and helping them to become professionals in their fields, and finding pertinent clubs at home or abroad.

Zhir Ahmed Rasheed, Raz Ismael Rasheed, Rukhsar Wahid Mahmood and Muhammad Ismael Aziz were the participant students from the UHD who managed to attract the attention of the referees and be selected as one of the three winning business projects out of thirteen projects presented by four universities in the Kurdistan Region.

The Five One Labs organisation held its first workshop at UHD on 16th January 2021 as part of its three-month-long programme, called the Job Initiative Programme, which aimed at helping students to develop business ideas and be able to start their own businesses. Several other workshops were held according to a planned timetable.

UHD signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Five One Labs in December 2021 to work together on projects which benefit students and society as a whole. Five One Labs organisation supports individuals with ideas and talented entrepreneurs in Kurdistan to start their businesses, make earnings and contribute to their communities’ economic growth.
