Post-Graduation Opportunities in a Workshop


On Thursday, June 24, 2021, the Department of English at the College of Languages held a workshop about (Post Graduation Opportunities) which was presented by the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Rauf Kareem Mahmood.

The workshop mainly focused on the graduate students’ interpersonal skills, post-graduation academic life, and future job opportunities. Dr. Rauf highlighted many significant issues such as reminding the graduates to become more vigorous in working on their soft and hard skills, for instance, teaching and/or tutoring English, translating, interpreting, and reading as many books as possible. He also motivated the graduates to join the UHD Alumni Club and stay connected with the university.

Moreover, Dr. Rauf suggested many future plans including, taking academic IELTS or TOEFL test, enhancing computer and typing skills, preparing students to pursue a master’s degree, writing a CV, joining international leadership programs, and attending local or international conferences. Finally, he offered a numerous lists of job opportunities, such as working as editorial assistant, web content manager, ESL teacher, magazine journalist, linguistic specialist at an embassy, and many more. The graduate students’ active contribution made the workshop more fruitful and productive through raising questions and discussions.
