Dr Latif Mustafa, locally known as Judge Sheikh Latif, visited Prof. Dr Mariwan Ahmed Rasheed, the President of the University of Human Development (UHD), today, 12 October 2026. The visit follows false reports circulating on social media which claimed that Dr Latif had been denied the opportunity to teach at UHD this academic year due to his recent political stance.

In an atmosphere of mutual warmth and fraternity, Prof. Dr Mariwan and Dr Latif discussed the issue, clarifying that the situation had arisen from a misunderstanding.

The UHD President expressed his appreciation for Dr Latif’s past services to the university and his academic contributions to the field of law, thanking him warmly for his visit. In turn, Dr Latif expressed his gratitude for the hospitable reception by the UHD leadership. Dr Latif was accompanied by Haval Kwestani, a prominent member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.

Dr Latif is a former senior lecturer at UHD, having taught in the Department of Law for many years. He has also previously served as a Member of the Iraqi Parliament and as a judge at the Sulaymaniyah Judicial Court.
