The health departments at the University of Human Development (UHD)—namely the College of Health Sciences, the College of Nursing, and the College of Pharmacy—marked World Health Day with a seminar on 12 October 2026 led by Dr Yadgar Natq Abbas, a Sulaymaniyah-based psychiatry specialist.
Under the title, ‘The Psychology of Everyday Life: Understanding Yourself, Managing Stress, and Building a Healthier Future’, Dr Yadgar addressed numerous issues related to modern life and their impact on mental well-being. He explored how stress can be transformed into a driving force for success and a better future. Speaking to an audience of over one hundred students at the Prof. Dr Ali Qaradaghi Hall, Dr Yadgar invited attendees to reflect on moments when they felt disappointed, disempowered, or frustrated by life events and various challenges. He explained the inner workings of the human mind and how specific decisions and actions are formed. Furthermore, he recommended prioritising consistent sleep patterns, a balanced diet, and physical health, noting that these foundational habits are highly effective in overcoming stress and various psychological problems.
The seminar lasted for more than an hour and concluded with an interactive Q&A and comment session.
