University of Human Development lecturer Dr Omed Hassan Ahmed was a visiting scholar in the Polish city of Katowice for four days. He taught classes at the University of Economics in Katowice on information technology and how it can be used for the prosperity and development of the economy as well as for further economic growth in the future. He also participated in a panel organised in Katowice on the occasion of the city being named the European City of Science for 2024.

Dr Omed Hassan's contribution is part of a broader cooperation between UHD and other universities, including those in Europe. His extensive expertise and valuable knowledge in the subject attracted Katowice to invite him and arrange lectures for him. Previously, Dr Hassan was invited by Huddersfield University in the United Kingdom to work with them as a visiting scholar and assist with a group formed by the university called the Information and System Engineering Research Group.

‘Katowice is the first city in Central Europe to have been awarded the title of the European City of Science. The title is given by EuroScience (European Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology) in cooperation with the European Commission.’
