Students exhibit their final year projects at the 11th Festival of College of Science and Technology

Students in Semester 8 at the College of Science and Technology exhibited their final year projects at the annual Festival of their college. The event took place in the Library Hall at the University of Human Development on 8th May 2024.

The President of the University of Human Development, accompanied by members of the Presidential Council, opened the exhibition and spoke with students about their projects. Stood behind screens, tool and gadgets, students appeared very excited about their projects. They explained the different aspects of their work and how they can help to develop their country, make life easier and more organised.

Among the projects were:

o   Development of a drone for monitoring air quality in industrial zones (a multipurpose drone with the carrying capacity of several hundred grams and flying range within 2 kilometres);

o   Smart bookshelf for library management system based on RFID technology (to make finding and tracking books easier);

o   Real estate recommendations (recommends houses, flats…etc based on the costumer’s requirements);

o   Food calories counter (gives an approximate number of calories contained in a food based on the image of the food);

o   Empowering university students with a transformer based Chatbot;

o   Automated vehicle registration recognition system using OCR technique (it can be used at security gates and for tracking visitors’ movements);

o   Job detail network (gives options and recommendations to job seekers based on their CVs. It gathers information about the requirements, descriptions, of available jobs in a certain area and uses the data to recommend job seekers the sort of job they can apply for);

o   Medical diagnosis (diagnoses health problems of patients based on medical tests and recommends the best doctor available in a hospital);

o   Numbers (it is an offline mobile application for gathering telephone numbers, working hours and locations of all the public institutions and agencies);

o   Breast cancer data collection and detection (detects cancerous cells in the breast based on an X-ray);

o   Internet mobile app for travel (it is going to be the first application to provide travel services including tourist attractions in both Kurdish and English languages);

o   Intuition detection system;

o   Mobile application for sales and customer relationship management;

o   Disease detection advisory system;

o   Flower watering project (the system is for drip-watering plants automatically. It is more useful when someone is away and still needs their plants to get water);

o   Kinder track (this is an application to track your child’s movement, for example, while going to school. It connects home, school and the school bus or any transportations together);

o   Revolutionising urban mobility through secure communication, real-time tracking, and digital payment integration;

o   Quran Application; 

o   Library management system;

o   Game adventure;

o   Market management system;

o   Hospital management system;

o   Advance point of sale system (a friendly application for exploring a supermarket and facilitating sale);

o   Lora system (a radio communication technique to solve power distribution problems in a target area).

A large number of students, university’s administrative staff and teaching staff attended the festival. They hailed the efforts of the College of Science and Technology students in both departments of Computer and Information Technology and wished them success and a bright future.
