Anfal Genocide Commemoration Event

A group of Diplomacy and Public Relations students of the University of Human Development organised an event on April 7th, 2021 to commemorate the genocide of the Kurdish People known as ‘Anfal’ in 1988 in which 180,000 Kurdish civilians are estimated to have been perished. Anfal ‘We Don’t Forget’ was the name of the event, it was held on the venue of ‘Amna Suraka’, a notorious security centre in Sulaymaniyah city during the reign of the Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein in the 1970s and 1980s which is now turned into a museum for displaying the crimes and atrocities carried out against innocent civilians. A significant number of people attended the event and several dignitaries read out important speeches.
