UHD and Huawei sign Memorandum of Understanding

University of Human Development (UHD) and Huawei Technologies for Communication Iraq Co. Ltd have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 13th November 2023. UHD President Prof. Dr Mariwan Ahmed Rasheed represented UHD and Vice President of Huawei/Iraq Dr Rafid Abbas represented Huawei. The agreement will pave the way for future cooperation and collaboration between the two parties on matters related to the advancement of information and communications technology in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

The agreement came about upon Huawei’s proposition following the success of thirteen UHD students in a recent national-wide competition on cloud computing and networking held by Huawei for more than 50 universities in Iraq. Huawei is a large global provider of information and communications technology with services extended to 170 countries and regions.

According to the MOU, UHD and Huawei have agreed to work together to “enhance knowledge and skills of ICT [information and communications technology] in Iraq. [UHD and Huawei] will utilise training programmes to transfer ICT…to the University via the Huawei Authorised Information and Network Academy program (HAINA).”

UHD has cooperative agreements with many governmental and non-governmental institutions of higher education and other sectors. The aim is to make a greater contribution to the development of the country and provide a better learning environment for students to improve their skills and be more prepared for their future.
