Students at the University of Human Development gathered in Professor Dr Ali Qaradaghi Hall on 11th October 2023 to celebrate the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

The event started with reciting verses from the Holy Quran followed by a short speech by Assistant Professor Dr Suhaib Mustafa Taha.

Dr Taha focused on the value of tolerance and explained that Prophet Muhammad was the epitome of that value; he had personified it in the most perfect manner. He mentioned that there were many attempts on his life but the Prophet never punished perpetrators; he always forgave them. He referred to a number of occasions in which the Prophet of Islam had all the powers and means to take revenge on the people who had hurt him physically and mentally and planned to kill him. But the Prophet always chose tolerance and love over violence, punishment and hate. Dr Taha finished his speech by saying that tolerance must be unconditional. One must tolerate the bad behaviour of people and not expect anything in return.

Then, famous Kurdish religious singer Mr Shahram Mansouri and his team came on the stage and chanted several religious poems and songs dedicated to Prophet Muhammad.

Muslims in Iraq observe and celebrate the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad throughout Rabi-ul-Awwal; the birth month of the Prophet.
