College of Nursing at the University of Human Development has started an awareness campaign for breast cancer in schools in Sulaymaniyah city. A team from the college conducted visits to several schools on Wednesday 26th October 2022 where they met schoolchildren and presented seminars for them aiming at raising their awareness about the causes of breast cancer and preventative methods.

It is Breast Cancer Awareness Month now; it starts on October 1st and ends on October 31st.

The College of Nursing campaign will last three days, and the plan is to visit some more schools in the coming two days for the same purpose.

Cancer is increasingly threatening the lives of people in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Cancer hospitals are complaining about the number of patients they receive every day which goes far beyond their capacity, and also a shortage of necessary medicine and equipment.

The rising level of air and soil pollution and water contamination is believed to be causing the surge in cancer patients in Kurdistan.

The University of Human Development is committed to helping society and contributing to its development, and it is doing everything it can for that matter.
