UHD’s 11th International Scientific Conference begins its activities

The University of Human Development (UHD)’s 11th International Scientific Conference began its activities today 11th June 2022. This year’s conference title is: Economic and Administrative Reform: Necessities and Challenges.

Keynote speakers, researchers, academists, and a significant number of guests had attended the opening ceremony which was held in Prof. Dr Ali Qaradaghi Hall. The national anthem of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and the UHD’s anthem were chanted followed by the observation of a minute of silence for the Kurdistan and Iraqi martyrs and the recitation of the Holy Quran.

The UHD President Prof. Dr Mariwan Ahmed Rasheed gave the welcome speech via a recorded video since he could not attend the conference in person, and the Dean of the College of Administration and Economics Prof. Dr Muhsin Ibrahim Ahmed explained the agenda of the conference for the audience. The value and necessity of holding scientific conferences in the Kurdistan Region were emphasised in the later speeches.

The conference has an intensive agenda. 54 research papers have been accepted by the conference’s scientific committee. Some of the researches are single authored and some others are co-authored. The authors are from the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, and several foreign countries; Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Turkey, and Norway.

Examples of some research papers: ‘Strategic vision and its relationship to continuous improvement of institutional performance: A field research at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’, ‘The challenges of the Iraqi economy and the current possibilities for economic reform’, and ‘The role of innovation, creativity and leadership as necessary requirements for the survival of the organisation and achieving competitive advantage’.

The conference is scheduled to last two days. Accommodations and all the other facilities needed for the conference are provided.
