UHD Pedagogy Centre: Graduation of Fifth Round
2022-06-02
The Pedagogy and Academic Development Training Centre at the University of Human Development (UHD) held a certificate award ceremony for its fifth-generation graduates on 2nd June 2022. More than 30 students received certificates which means that they are now officially qualified to teach at public and private universities in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
The UHD Pedagogy and Academic Development Training Centre is the only type in Sulaymaniyah Governorate that is licensed by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Kurdistan Regional Government to train Master and PhD holders to teach at Kurdistan universities and institutes. Accepted students complete a six months course in which they study several modules and acquire skills in the best and most approved methods of teaching.
The director of the center Asst Prof. Dr Ahmed Omar Bali welcomed the attendees to the ceremony and gave a background about the UHD Pedagogy Centre.
The UHD President Prof. Dr Mariwan Ahmed Rasheed praised the efforts of the teachers and students and congratulated them on their achievements. He referred to UHD’s continuous efforts to always stay a pioneer in the field of education. He mentioned that the UHD sponsored a study course for a team of university lecturers – members of the team included UHD and several other public university lecturers – at HAMK Häme University of Applied Sciences in Finland several years ago to receive training on pedagogy and modern teaching methods. This was at a time when the Kurdistan Region was in a big financial trouble. These lecturers now instruct higher education degree holders to be qualified for teaching at the Kurdistan universities.
