The College of Nursing at the University of Human Development (UHD) held several activities on the International Nurses Day on 12th May 2022 to celebrate the occasion and honour the hard-working nurses at Sulaymaniyah hospitals.

Dr Bushra Jabbar Hamareshid from the Nursing College and a group of her students visited Shar Hospital, a 400-beds hospital in Sulaymaniyah, and Hiwa Hospital for cancer treatment. She presented UHD glass plaques to both hospitals on behalf of the UHD President Prof. Dr Mariwan Ahmed Rasheed in appreciation of the invaluable services these two public hospitals offer to their patients, and her students presented flowers and sweets to the nursing staff in recognition of their precious contribution to the health and wellbeing of people.

Later on, the Nursing College team arrived at Family Mall, a big shopping centre in Sulaymaniyah, where they staged a short awakening campaign on certain health problems and preventative methods. They also did free tests of blood pressure, diabetes…etc for some shoppers there.

The College of Nursing is a new college at UHD. It was founded in 2021 following the authorisation by the Kurdistan Regional Government Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The college occupies a modern building on the UHD campus and enjoys having good learning facilities for its students.
