2022-03-09
The Department of English Language at the University of Human Development (UHD) held an international virtual workshop with National Geographic Learning (NGL) on 25th February 2022 – NGL is part of the American Cengage Group with the mission to help students ‘learn about their world…[and]…develop the language and skills they need to be successful global citizens and leaders’, NGL website writes.
The workshop was attended by a significant number of students and lecturers in the English Department. It was an exclusive event coordinated by UHD lecturer Mr Haval Latif under the title ‘A Glance at NGL’s Academic Series’. It focused on introducing three of the National Geographic Academic products: Pathways 2E, Great Writing 5E and Reading Explorer 3E.
These products are carefully-guided lessons that develop the language skills, critical thinking and learning strategies required for academic success. Authentic and relevant content from National Geographic, including videos, charts and other infographics, are used. They are designed to prepare students to work effectively and confidently in an academic environment.
The scientific committee of the English Department met earlier to discuss these precious products and determine their components for each level.
