Dr Amr Abdulla speaks on conflict and peaceful intervention in a workshop at DCRT

The Development Centre for Research and Training (DCRT) at the University of Human Development (UHD) organised a workshop for Dr Amr Abdulla on the topic of ‘Frameworks for Conflict Analysis and Models of Peaceful Interventions’ on 16th December 2021. It was attended by 15 academists from three universities in Kurdistan Region.  

Dr Amr Abdulla is from Egypt. He is an author and senior fellow and advisor on Conflict Resolution and Policy Analysis and Research at the Institute for Peace and Security Studies of Addis Ababa University. He previously served as Vice President of SALAM Institute for Peace and Justice in Washington, D.C. and at the United Nations-mandated University for Peace in Costa Rica. He has also served in some other high posts. He visited UHD for the Peacebuilding and Genocide Prevention international conference which was organised by 9 universities and institutions including the UNESCO Chair for Peace Studies and the Prevention of Genocide and UHD. It was held on 15th-16th December.

During the workshop, Dr Amr explained several themes related to peaceful intervention and conflict resolution. He used charts and diagrams to clarify his ideas. Many questions and comments were raised and made which all made the event very fruitful. Finally, the head of DCRT Prof. Dr Anwar Muhammad Faraj joined the event for awarding the attendees certificate of participation.
