A group of students from the College of Law and Politics at the University of Human Development (UHD) played an active and invaluable role in facilitating the work of the UHD-hosted international conference on Peacebuilding and Genocide Prevention that was held on 15th-16th December 2021. The students were from the Law Department and Diplomacy and Public Relations Department of the aforementioned college. They volunteered their time and made their utmost efforts to make the conference successful.

The conference was a joint venture between nine Iraqi and Kurdistan Region universities and institutions, namely: the University of Baghdad as the recipient of the UNESCO Chair for the Genocide Prevention Studies in the Muslim World, Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, Martyrs Foundation, Political Prisoners Foundation, Bait Al-Hikma, Malai Gawra Research Centre - Koya University, Research Centre - Genocide Department - University of Halabja, Charmo University Research Centre for Crimes of Anfal and Genocide, and University of Human Development.

The students received training on organisation and conference etiquette, supporting ceremonies and scientific panels two days before the commencement of the conference from the head of the UHD International Affairs Assist Prof. Dr Ahmed Omar Bali. They were divided into several teams to perform the following functions: registration; printing attendance, participation and appreciation certificates; observing general protocols and protocols of panel management; and supporting the UHD media office.

On behalf of the UHD and UNESCO Chair and all other organisers of the conference, the Dean of the College of Law and Politics Assist Prof. Dr Kanaan Hamagharib expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the students and thanked them for their irreplaceable work for the conference.
