Lecturers at the College of Nursing at the University of Human Development (UHD) conducted scientific research on the lifestyles and dietary patterns of university students, surveying 330 students across eight academic departments at UHD. They studied the influence of lifestyle behaviours on dietary habits, nutritional health, and overall well-being.

Dr Bushra Jabbar Hamarasheed, Dr Bayan Omer Sharif, Asst Lect. Ari Jamal Hassan, Sara Noori Muhammed, Shan Hamza Muhammed, Savya Ghafur Rashid, and Prusha Soran Karim, together with several other researchers from different institutions, co-authored the paper titled ‘Assessment of Lifestyle and Dietary Patterns Among Students at the University of Human Development in Sulaimani City: A Cross-Sectional Study 2025-2026,’ published in Health Science Reports, A monthly open-access, online, peer-reviewed medical journal published by Wiley and indexed in Clarivate with an Impact Factor of 2.1.

The paper concluded that university students' diets fall short of recommended nutritional standards due to ‘poor sleep hygiene, low physical activity, excessive screen time, and a family history of obesity.’  The article can be accessed via this link.
