Banking and Finance Department
The Department of Financial and Banking is a new department in the field of Economic Sciences. Opening up such a department is to fill the gap that existed in the field of banking services before. The study programme of this department relies on scientific methods to investigate the different theories and make suggestions for the improvement and good management of the banking system. This Department will graduate specialists with the ability to work in different banking systems.
The Department of Banking and Finance is committed to the creation of specialised scientific competencies for its students so that they will be capable of development and creativity in line with scientific and technological development in the financial and banking sectors to achieve sustainable development for society.
Objectives:
Realising the importance of financial and banking activity at both national and international levels, the Department seeks to achieve the following objectives:
1. Providing the labour market with qualified and trained individuals in the financial and banking disciplines capable of using modern methods in financial institutions.
2. Contributing to sustainable development through the department's interaction with financial and banking institutions and carrying out joint activities of research, studies and scientific visits, as well as encouraging students to visit these institutions and train in them during the study period.
3. Enhancing the graduate's capabilities in scientific research, as each student is assigned to prepare a research project in Year Four – graduation research project is one of the basic requirements for graduation – and the focus is on applied research.
4. The department seeks to prepare graduates in line with the information technology revolution and in light of the transformations the world is witnessing within the financial and banking framework so that the department’s outputs are compatible with those variables and make the department’s outputs compatible with the specifications of the demand in the labour market.
Outcomes:
Efficient outputs that contribute to solving financial problems by assuming one of the following tasks:
1. A credit analyst in a commercial bank understands the need of companies and financing.
2. A counter employee understands the needs of the bank's customers and deals with their needs.
3. Financial manager in industrial and commercial establishments.
4. A researcher in the field of finance and financial markets.
5. A financial advisor in an industrial and financial company.
