The President of the University of Human Development (UHD), Professor Dr Mariwan Ahmed Rasheed, received Mr Zhilwan Adil Shukur, the Director General of Social Care & Development for the Sulaymaniyah and Garmian Directorates, at his office on 29 October 2026. The visit aimed to support orphaned children and children with disabilities by creating opportunities for them to study at university free of charge.

Mr Zhilwan Shukur thanked the UHD President for providing scholarships to children in need, and expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the generosity of the Head of the UHD Board of Trustees, Professor Dr Ali Qaradaghi. For his part, the UHD President stated that the university has always supported children with special needs by providing full scholarships, and will continue to do so in the future. He added that many refugee children, among others, have already benefited from these free scholarships and services.

Another key focus of their discussion was future collaboration between the University of Human Development and the Directorates of Social Care & Development in Sulaymaniyah and Garmian on initiatives aimed at supporting local communities and wider society.
