The College of Law and Politics at the University of Human Development (UHD) hosted a seminar led by Lieutenant Colonel Ari Latif, the media officer and spokesperson for Sulaymaniyah Police, on the role of the police in legal investigations. The seminar, titled ‘The Role of Police in Legal Investigation’, was delivered to fifth-year students in the UHD Department of Law at the Professor Dr Ali Qaradaghi Hall today, 26 October 2026.

Lieutenant Colonel Latif discussed criminal investigations, the role of the police, and the involvement of lawyers in these matters. He explored the legal relationship between lawyers and the police, and elaborated on the procedures that lawyers must follow when working alongside law enforcement. Later, to provide practical insights, he accompanied the students on a visit to the Ibrahim Ahmed Police Station. There, they toured various sections and departments to gain a clear understanding of the profession's day-to-day requirements.

Lieutenant Colonel Latif is a UHD alumnus, having graduated with a degree in law a few years ago. He was a distinguished student who has gone on to pursue a highly respected career.

The UHD Department of Law places a strong emphasis on practical experience alongside theoretical studies. To support this, it regularly organises student visits to courtrooms, police stations, correctional facilities, and relevant non-governmental organisations and institutions.
