On July 30, 2026, the Deputy Office for Scientific Research Affairs at the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research sent a Letter of Appreciation to Rawyar As’aad Rasheed, Head of the Huawei Academy and lecturer at the University of Human Development (UHD), and Kaziwa Hawre Muhammed, a student in the Information Technology Department at UHD. They were recognised for their outstanding efforts in the final round of the 2025–2026 Huawei ICT Competition held in China.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry for Scientific Research Affairs, Prof. Dr Haider Abdul Dhahd, extended his greetings and expressed his appreciation to the participants of the Huawei ICT Competition for representing their universities and their country, Iraq. The letter reads: In view of the high professionalism and outstanding efforts you demonstrated in carrying out your assigned tasks, as well as your dedication, accuracy, and speed in completing them—evidenced by your achievement of third place globally in the computing track and your qualification for the finals of the 2025–2026 Huawei ICT Competition—this letter is presented to you.

The University of Human Development has a proud history of participating in the annual Huawei ICT Competition, having previously won first, second, and third prizes across the Network, Computing, and Cloud Tracks.
