Graduands numbered 510 from nine academic departments entered the venue prepared for their ceremony, ready to attend a very important event in their lives. The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by singing the Kurdistan national anthem and the UHD anthem.

The university’s president, Prof. Dr Mariwan Ahmed Rasheed, welcomed the attendees with a speech. He congratulated the students on completing their study courses and stated that UHD provides all the facilities needed for a successful education, including experienced teachers, electronic systems, and advanced labs. He emphasised that UHD builds confidence in its students and prepares them to face future work challenges.

He highlighted the academic and scholarly activities at his university, which include conferences, workshops, seminars, and annual scientific exhibitions to showcase the achievements of both lecturers and students. He also referred to social and cultural activities, stating that they create entertainment for students and display their skills and talents.

Prof. Dr Rasheed mentioned the scientific journals published by UHD, namely the UHD Journal of Science and Technology and the Journal of the University of Human Development, as well as the Pedagogical Training Centre, which serve as other important outlets of the university.

He also noted students’ participation in global competitions: several UHD students from the College of Science and Technology entered the Huawei ICT Global Competition 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 held in China and managed to win first place and third place, respectively. At the end of his speech, the president expressed his appreciation for the constant and unwavering support of Prof. Dr Ali Muhyiddin Qaradaghi for the University of Human Development.

The next stage of the event was the graduation pledge. Students from all the departments stood up, and Asst Prof. Dr Hiwa Abubakir Ali, the President’s Assistant for Financial Affairs, asked them to repeat the following words after him: “I will follow professional ethics in my future career and serve my country and people.”
