International Union of Muslim Scholars opens a scientific course for Ulama in Kurdistan and Iraq

The International Union of Muslim Scholars/Kurdistan branch has opened its first scientific course for a group of Ulama (Muslim scholars in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq) under the auspices of the union’s President, Prof. Dr Ali Muhyiddin Al-Qaradaghi, who is also the Head of the Board of Trustees of the University of Human Development in Iraq. The course lasts three days, from May 2nd to 4th, 2025, and takes place on the campus of the University of Human Development in the city of Sulaymaniyah.
The theme of the course is ‘The Deductive Approach, the Jurisprudence of the Balance, and the Advancement of Objectives,’ and includes many important seminars and discussions.
The course opened with a recitation of the Holy Quran followed by a speech from the International Union of Muslim Scholars’ President, Prof. Dr Ali Muhyiddin Al-Qaradaghi, which was delivered by Dr Ahmed Penjweni. The course addresses the three important topics of ‘The Deductive Approach,’ ‘The Jurisprudence of the Balance,’ and ‘The Advancement of Objectives.’ According to the agenda, the course will hold eleven sessions, during which these topics will be discussed and elaborated upon with the participation of experts, Islamic academicians, and scholars. There will be breaks for lunch and prayers. The cost of the course and hospitality is covered by Prof. Dr Al-Qaradaghi.
The course presents an opportunity for participants to raise and discuss other significant issues aimed at developing Islamic scholarship and knowledge, as well as serving the public interest and well-being of society.
