Dean of College of Science and Technology participates in an international conference

Professor Dr Muzhir Al-Ani, Dean of the College of Science and Technology at the University of Human Development, participated in the 8th International Scientific Conference of the Arab Statisticians Union, held in cooperation with Tishk International University in Erbil, Kurdistan, Iraq, on April 16–17, 2025. The conference was organised under the patronage of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

The theme of the conference, ‘Synergy Between Effective Statistics and Artificial Intelligence to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals,’ was selected to reflect a modern and practical approach to integrating statistical knowledge with advanced technologies. It aimed to position statistics as a central tool in shaping developmental policies and to harness artificial intelligence in support of modern statistics.

The conference witnessed the participation of numerous researchers and academics from the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and other Arab countries. Their contributions enriched the five main thematic areas of the conference, which focused on the use of AI and statistics to develop innovative and effective solutions for achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.

It is also worth noting that three scientific workshops were conducted, featuring local and international researchers and experts.

Finally, a number of individuals and institutions were honoured with various awards. Among them was Professor Dr Muzhir Al-Ani, who is also is Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab Statisticians Union. He was awarded the Medal of Excellence for the Distinguished Scientific Personality of the Year 2024-2025.
