127 student applicants to the University of Human Development have finished a foundation course as part of the preparation for their academic studies when they are formally accepted and admitted.

The course was 60 hours on the English Language and taught by Nostalgia Institute. The institute has the support of the British Council. It draws the course materials from Cambridge University curricula. This means that the course enjoys global recognition. Participants were awarded certificates at the end of the course.

UHD offered the course to the applicants free of charge – this is a privilege since foundation courses are expensive in other universities and higher education institutions.

The closing ceremony was held today, 1st November 2023, at Professor Dr Ali Qaradaghi Hall. The UHD President Prof. Dr Mariwan Ahmed Rasheed presented a speech in which he welcomed the applicants and encouraged them to take learning English Language seriously and for life. He said that English is the key to knowledge and research and is a necessary and important skill for jobs. This was a great opportunity for you to establish a strong basis for your future study and career, and you must have had a good start, he said.

The head of Nostalgia Institute Mr Gharib Salih thanked UHD and said that he had done his best to make this project successful. He said to the attendees that they were lucky that they would stand a chance to study at UHD. In another part of his speech, he referred to the collaboration between his institute and UHD and said that both sides have been very keen on continuing their very good relationship.

At the closing ceremony, student applicants received instructions, and now they look forward to their first day as formal students at UHD.
